This position is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to Aviation Capital Group in connection with its business activities and operations.

HIRING RANGE

$ 170,000.00 – $225,000.00

Bonus eligible position

Individual pay may vary from the target hiring range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Draft, negotiate and manage aircraft lease agreements, including (i) coordinating and assessing input from the marketing, technical, risk and configuration departments during the life of a transaction, (ii) attending to associated regulatory or registration issues and financing requirements, and (iii) ensuring condition precedents are satisfied
Manage and close sale and purchase transactions of aircraft, engines and aircraft parts in a variety of jurisdictions
Manage and oversee paralegals and outside counsel in multiple jurisdictions in connection with leasing and trading transactions
Negotiate and finalize various types of agreements with lessees, financing parties, OEMs, maintenance facilities, vendors and other counterparties
Apply legal knowledge and build knowledge of the business as required to support leasing and trading transactions
Assist with returns and transitions of aircraft
Lead and coordinate the company’s actions and responses in airline bankruptcies and restructurings

QUALIFICATIONS

3-6 years of experience since admission to the Bar, including experience in the aircraft leasing industry either with a law firm or with an international aircraft leasing company
Law degree and admission to the Bar in any jurisdiction of the United States
A solid understanding of legal concepts involved in the lease, financing and sale of aircraft and engines, including legal concepts applicable to commercial transactions, aircraft registration, tax, insurance and international treaties applicable to aircraft
Experience in structuring, managing and negotiating aircraft finance and leasing transactions, including an ability to negotiate and resolve complex and difficult issues skillfully with both internal and external groups
Ability to take ownership of assigned transactions and drive them to completion
Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines and prioritize matters based on company goals
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with non-legal personnel
Attention to detail and a high proficiency in drafting and customizing legal documentation
Ability to accommodate periodic domestic and international travel

ENVIRONMENT

International and domestic travel is required 20-30%. This position will be indoors 100% of the time. 90%-95% of the day is spent sitting or standing at a desk as the other 5% consists of minimal walking to meet with other employees.
