Job Summary
This is your chance to join a dynamic litigation team handling high-exposure casualty and personal injury matters and construction litigation! Lasater & Martin, P.C., a respected civil litigation defense firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Attorney with 10+ years of litigation experience to join our Texas office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background defending complex personal injury and casualty claims, a proven ability to manage their own caseload, and experience meeting billable hour requirements in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Responsibilities
This attorney will defend a broad range of casualty matters, including:
- Wrongful death and survival actions
- Products liability claims
- Premises liability litigation
- Dram shop liability cases
- Workplace accident claims
- Construction defect litigation
- Catastrophic personal injury matters
- Significant property damage claims
The successful candidate will independently manage all aspects of litigation, including:
- Develop and implement case strategy including early case assessment, motion practice, discovery planning, and trial preparation
- Reporting to clients and carriers
- Take and defend depositions, manage written discovery, and work closely with expert witnesses throughout the litigation process
- Draft and argue substantive motions, pleadings, and briefs in state and federal courts
- Represent clients at court hearings, mediations, arbitrations
- Provide strategic legal advice and regular case updates to clients and carriers
- Trial preparation and trial work
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member and in good standing of the Texas State Bar
- 10 years of general casualty litigation experience
- Experience handling complex personal injury and casualty matters
- Proven ability to manage billable hour requirements
- Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Must be responsive with excellent organizational and case management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients
