Role Description

This legal function role is responsible for supporting legal operations, providing legal advice, managing contracts, and protecting the organization’s legal and regulatory interests. Depending on seniority, the role may focus on administrative/legal support (Legal Assistant), advisory work (Legal Counsel), or leading complex legal matters and strategy (Senior Legal Counsel).

Key responsibilities typically include:

  • Drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, agreements, and legal documents
  • Providing legal advice on corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters
  • Supporting litigation, dispute resolution, and external counsel coordination
  • Conducting legal research and monitoring regulatory developments
  • Managing corporate governance, board resolutions, and compliance documentation
  • Reviewing business risks and advising stakeholders on legal implications
  • Supporting mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, or strategic transactions
  • Maintaining contract databases, records, and document control systems
  • Training internal teams on legal policies, ethics, and compliance matters
  • Leading high-risk negotiations or complex cases (senior level)

Qualifications (Must-have)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB, JD, or equivalent)
  • Qualified to practice law or eligible depending on jurisdiction (for Counsel roles)
  • 1–10+ years of experience in legal practice, in-house counsel, or corporate legal roles depending on level
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and confidentiality standards
  • Good stakeholder management and communication abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple matters under deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in law firms or in-house legal teams at multinational companies
  • Familiarity with sectors such as finance, technology, healthcare, energy, or real estate
  • Experience with contract lifecycle tools such as DocuSign CLM or Ironclad
  • Background in M&A, data privacy, employment law, or intellectual property
  • Knowledge of regional regulations across APAC / EMEA / global markets
  • Master of Laws (LLM), corporate governance certification, or compliance credentials
  • Leadership experience managing legal teams or external counsel (senior level)
