Role and Responsibilities
The Family Court Legal Assistant will provide support to the Family Court Division by performing legal and clerical tasks. The FCP’s duties include, but are not limited to:
· Liaison – Act as liaison between the Court and the program. Answer and respond to client, attorney and court inquiries, including creating and sending communication to Family Court panel attorneys and court staff as directed by the Deputies. Maintains and updates the panel attorney rosters, including but limited to e-mail and constant contact lists. Assist Family Court satellite office with technical and other support.
· Case assignments/Case management (DD7) – assist with assigning and data entry into case management system. Assist with voucher review when necessary. Have an intimate knowledge of DD7 and help/and or train panel members to use the program. Assist with their voucher questions.
· Attorney of the Day (AOD) coordination – responsible for creating and maintaining the AOD Calendar/schedule. Includes creating AOD cases in DD7 and reviewing monthly vouchers of same, at first level of voucher review. Entering daily assignments from AOD shifts in DD7 (intake).
· Maintain the schedule of the Second Deputy Administrator
· Family Court CLE’s/training – schedule and alert panel to scheduled trainings, case conferences, and other meetings of the panel. Responsible for set up of in person and/or remote meetings and trainings. Responsible for monitoring and providing CLE certificates for FC Continuing Legal Education Programs. Including coordinating with the Deputy for CLE for purposes of CLE reporting requirements.
· Reporting – Assist in gathering data and creating such reports as may be required by ILS or others. Receive and enter Article 10 Mental Health cases for annual report.
· Prepetition program- Provide support to the Article 10 Pre-petition Outreach Program, including staffing of the Pre-Petition Hotline
· Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or the FC Deputies
The Legal Assistant will be charged with data entry, Attorney of the Day (AOD) scheduling, provide backup in the assignment of family court cases, updating and maintaining ACP’s Family Court online resources, issues related to panel attorney vouchers in the DefenderData7 system, inquiries from the Family Court or its staff; and such other related duties as assigned. The Legal Assistant shall be first and foremost responsible for working on Family Court matters and shall only provide support for other matters when directed by the Executive Director and/or the Second Deputy.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelors Degree from an accredited University. Associates Degree in compatible subject area will be considered. Extensive long term job experience in a support staff capacity will be considered.
Required Skills
· Extreme Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Teams, OneNote) and Adobe Acrobat required.
· Excellent customer service skills.
· Must be able to work independently.
· Experience in family law a plus.
Preferred Skills
Bi-lingual or multi-lingual preferred.

Pay: $49,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
