Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our growing team. This full-time, in-office position involves assisting with estate administration, probate matters, and filing court documents. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, eager to grow with the practice, and have a background in accounting or familiarity with estate financials. Knowledge of Richmond County Surrogate’s Court procedures is a significant advantage.
Responsibilities
Prepare and file probate petitions and other court documents in Richmond County Surrogate’s Court.
Assist with estate administration tasks, including gathering and organizing financial documents, preparing accountings, and corresponding with beneficiaries.
Utilize Microsoft Excel to maintain and analyze estate financials and track deadlines.
Communicate with clients, courts, and financial institutions to ensure timely resolution of cases.
Maintain and organize case files, both digital and physical, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Conduct basic legal research and draft correspondence as needed.
Stay up to date with procedural requirements in probate and estate administration.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, and organization.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A proactive and adaptable mindset to thrive in a changing work environment.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Richmond County Surrogate’s Court procedures.
Background in accounting or estate financial administration.
Experience working in estate planning, probate, or elder law.
Residence close to our office in Staten Island.
Work Environment
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Location: This is a full-time, on-site position in Staten Island, NY. Hybrid or remote work is not an option.
