The Labor Relations Division ensures New Mexicans receive legal pay, fair treatment based on protected class, documented working conditions for minors, and paid sick leave through documentation, investigations and enforcement. The Labor Relations Division supervises the Child Labor, Human Rights Bureau, Paid Sick Leave, Public Works, and Wage and Hour units.

Why does the job exist?
The Wage and Hour Supervisor provides comprehensive supervision and support one of three investigator teams in the unit. The position exists to ensure staff are adequately supported, their team is running with maximum effectiveness, review administrative decisions, and contribute ideas for continual process improvement to the Wage and Hour manager and peer supervisors.
How does it get done?
The key responsibilities of the Wage and Hour Supervisor include supervision of a team in the Wage and Hour unit. The position requires proactive examination of team operations, identification of ways to improve. The position is responsible for reviewing administrative decisions that are generated by their team. The position is responsible for collaborating with peer supervisors and reporting to the Wage and Hour manager, particularly ideas for how to improve processes.
Who are the customers?
This position primarily is done for the staff of the Labor Relations Division. However, improved services that the Wage and Hour Supervisor contributes towards will increase Division effectiveness, and thereby citizens of New Mexico.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of experience in investigations, regulation, policy, statutory, and/or contract compliance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate (DDC) from the State of New Mexico. Must possess DDC within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is usually performed in an office setting, with extensive exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computer, printer, calculator, copy machine, scanner, and telephone usage. Extensive travel will be required. Extended periods of sitting and some lifting may be required.
