Core purpose of the role
The Legal Administrator is responsible for providing administrative support to the General Counsel and Company Secretary by ensuring the efficient management of legal documentation, compliance, and correspondence and company secretarial support. This role involves assisting with the legal aspects of company operations.
Key deliverables and outputs
Document Management
Ensure the timely submission of legal documents to relevant authorities
Provision of any other administrative support that may be required
Maintain and organise legal files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Conduct record-keeping in line with legal and company policies
Handle document retrieval and respond to legal queries promptly.
Administrative Support
Managing the General Counsel’s calendar, scheduling meetings, and organising travel
Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and other materials for board meetings and other corporate events
Handle confidential company information and ensure it is stored securely
Handle requisitioning and processing of legal and administrative expenses
Stay informed about relevant changes in corporate governance laws, regulations, and best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with senior management, and external stakeholders, including Auditors, Directors, and regulatory bodies
Support with communication between the company and external legal counsel
Ensure effective organisational communication of corporate governance matters.
CoSec Support
Prepare and file statutory forms, including those related to the appointment of directors, changes to share capital, and other company filings
Assist with the preparation of annual reports, corporate filings, and legal disclosures in compliance with relevant laws.

The role requires close engagement and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.

Academic Qualifications
Essential:
Diploma in a Paralegal/Legal Secretarial Qualification
Valid Driver’s License.
Advantageous:
Degree
Background in Corporate and Commercial Law
LLB/BCom Law.
Work Experience
Essential:
3-5 Years’ Experience in an Administrative role, within a Legal Environment.
Advantageous:
Law firm and more than 5 Years’ Experience.
