Position Summary
Supervise the management of the state docket including e-filing, case direction, trial preparation, appearance assignment, trial results, and related case activity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the development of e-filing controls, processes, and exceptions to ensure compliance with Firm and Client standards
Responsible for daily supervision of litigation support staff
Oversee hiring, training, discipline, and growth of team members. Monitor productivity, performance, quality and compliance of these teams.
Establish and oversee progress on team &/or individual goals. Complete reviews and provide necessary coaching throughout the year based upon progress.
Act as liaison with Local Appearance Counsel in regard to matter impacting state level coverage, assignments or results. Confer with the Legal Administrative Assistant on matters of approval, compliance or audit relative to Local Appearance Counsel.
Respond to inquiries from other departments on the handling of litigation accounts.
Assist the Managing Attorney in responding to client litigation exceptions and assuring efficient litigation case management, pursuant to Firm and Client standards.
Confer with Firm Managers and Executive staff on carrying out Firm objectives, overcoming challenges, completing projects and cultivating the Firm’s reputation
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Ability to work efficiently with excellent attention to detail in a high-volume fast paced environment
Minimum five years of relevant work experience in the legal field; equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered
Minimum of five years of relevant work experience in a supervisory role
Knowledge of legal terminology and legal document management (e.g., briefs, summonses, complaints, motions, pleadings, and discovery)
Familiarity with litigation management software systems
Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point; ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, fax machine, printer, scanner, and computer; proficient with internet research
Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it
Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies
Ability to maintain confidentiality
