Our client is a large and well-regarded government organisation operating within a complex and highly regulated environment. Their legal team sits at the centre of important regulatory and litigation matters, supporting key decision-making and delivering impactful outcomes across the organisation.
About the role
This is a litigation-focused contract opportunity suited to a junior lawyer (1–3 PQE) looking to build depth in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You’ll be working across a range of matters, balancing competing priorities while delivering clear, pragmatic legal advice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting litigation matters end-to-end
- Drafting legal advice, pleadings, submissions and court documents
- Interpreting legislation and analysing evidence
- Supporting internal stakeholders with timely, practical advice
- Briefing and working with counsel as required
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be exposed to meaningful work and trusted to contribute from day one.
The successful candidate
You’ll be an early-career solicitor with exposure to litigation and a strong foundation in legal research and drafting.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has approximately 1–3 years PQE in a litigation environment
- Holds a current practising certificate (including eligibility as a government legal practitioner)
- Is confident drafting and communicating legal advice clearly
- Can manage competing deadlines in a structured, organised way
- Is collaborative and comfortable engaging with a range of stakeholders
You’ll also need to be Sydney-based and able to attend the office 3–4 days per week.
