About
the role
We are seeking a Law Officer to join our legal team in Pekanbaru City, Riau, on a full-time basis. This is a pivotal role within our organisation, responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and guidance across all aspects of our business operations. As a Law Officer, you will play an essential part in ensuring Green Earth Ventures Indonesia operates in full compliance with local, regional and national legislation, whilst protecting the company’s interests and supporting our strategic objectives.
You will be at the forefront of our corporate and commercial legal matters, advising senior management on complex legal issues and contributing significantly to our continued success and growth in the Indonesian market.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing legal advice and support on corporate matters, including company formation, governance, compliance and regulatory requirements
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, agreements and legal documents pertinent to business operations
- Conducting legal research and due diligence on matters relating to corporate transactions, partnerships and commercial arrangements
- Advising on compliance with Indonesian corporate law, environmental regulations and sector-specific legislation relevant to our operations
- Supporting the company in managing legal risks and implementing appropriate risk mitigation strategies
- Liaising with external counsel, government agencies and regulatory bodies as required
- Maintaining comprehensive legal documentation and ensuring proper record‑keeping systems are in place
- Assisting with employment law matters, including contract reviews and policy development
- Supporting acquisition, investment and commercial opportunity evaluations from a legal perspective
- Providing timely legal updates and briefings to senior management on matters affecting the business
What we’re looking for
- A law degree from a recognised university, with admission to the Indonesian bar or equivalent legal qualification
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law practice, preferably gained within a law firm, corporate legal department or government legal body
- Strong knowledge of Indonesian corporate law, commercial law, contract law and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and contracts
- Solid understanding of business operations and commercial matters, with the ability to provide practical, commercially-focused legal advice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English
- Strong analytical and research capabilities with meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple matters simultaneously
- Proficiency with legal research tools, contract management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Professional integrity, discretion and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality
- Knowledge of environmental law and sustainability-related regulations is advantageous
