Job Purpose
The Land Surveyor performs surveying activities for land, property, and construction projects to provide accurate measurements and data for building construction, land development, alterations, valuations, and mapping. The role is responsible for conducting field surveys, preparing survey reports and drawings, and ensuring all survey work is completed in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct land and topographic surveys using surveying instruments such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, digital levels, and other surveying tools.
- Determine and mark property boundaries, easements, rights-of-way, and land divisions in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Perform construction setting-out and layout works for buildings, roads, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
- Establish and verify horizontal and vertical control points to ensure accurate survey measurements and project alignment.
- Collect, record, and analyze survey data, measurements, observations, and field notes.
- Prepare survey drawings, maps, sketches, charts, and reports using survey and CAD software.
- Conduct as-built surveys to verify completed works and ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
- Assist in preparing legal survey documents, property descriptions, boundary certificates, and survey reports as required.
- Verify survey calculations and measurements to maintain accuracy and quality standards.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding survey requirements and site conditions.
- Identify and report discrepancies between site conditions and design drawings.
- Maintain surveying equipment and ensure proper calibration and functionality.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, project specifications, surveying standards, and applicable regulations.
- Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and comply with company and IMS policies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Surveying Engineering, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, methods, and practices.
- Proficiency in using Total Stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, digital levels, and other surveying instruments.
- Knowledge of survey computations, coordinate systems, and mapping techniques.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and survey data processing software.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, maps, and technical documents.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of applicable surveying regulations, standards, and best practices.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills, is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of surveying experience.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in land surveying and construction surveying works.
- Experience in building, infrastructure, or land development projects is preferred.
- GCC experience of 2 years or more is considered an advantage.
