Introduction
A well-established, medium-sized Pretoria-based asset management and wealth management group is seeking a Junior Legal Advisor to join its Group Legal function.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a newly admitted attorney or junior legal professional to gain valuable in-house experience within a highly regulated financial services environment.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage high volumes of complex legal work in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support to Group Legal across the business and affiliated entities
- Assist with corporate governance and compliance frameworks
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and legal documents
- Prepare board packs, resolutions, and shareholder documentation
- Support compliance with regulatory requirements (FSCA, Companies Act, NCA)
- Assist with legal risk management and advisory services
- Maintain and manage legal records and documentation systems
- Provide general legal administrative support across the group structure
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
Experience:
- 1 – 2 years PQE and/or newly admitted attorney
- Exposure to commercial / corporate law (advantageous)
- Experience with in financial services or asset management (beneficial)
Knowledge & Skills
- Sound understanding of the Companies Act
- Working knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA)
- Understanding of FSCA regulatory framework (advantageous)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage high-volume, detail-driven legal work
- Excellent contract drafting and legal writing skills
- Strong administrative and organisational abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
