Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a junior associate with approximately two to four years of experience to join its dynamic Energy Regulatory practice in Washington, DC. This practice represents a broad range of clients on transactions, projects, and regulatory matters across the nuclear, gas, oil, LNG, electric, and renewable energy sectors. The role involves engaging in high-stakes matters before various government agencies, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Department of Energy (DOE), and others.

The ideal candidate will have a background in FERC work, particularly in the natural gas sector, with experience representing natural gas pipelines in regulatory proceedings.

Location:

Washington, DC

Duties:

Represent clients in regulatory matters before FERC, including pipeline rate cases and LNG licensing.

Engage in legal work related to energy projects and transactions across various sectors such as natural gas, LNG, renewable energy, and electric power.

Advise clients on regulatory compliance, business strategy, and policy issues at the intersection of law and energy business.

Participate in proceedings before government agencies such as the NRC and DOE, particularly focusing on areas like advanced reactor licensing, decommissioning, and energy funding opportunities.

Collaborate within a team-oriented environment while handling cutting-edge matters in the energy regulatory field.

Requirements:

2-4 years of experience in Energy Regulatory law, particularly with FERC matters.

Experience representing natural gas pipelines in regulatory proceedings before FERC is highly preferred.

Strong interest in energy regulation, policy, and business at the federal level.

Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Excellent analytical, research, writing, and communication skills.

Must be licensed to practice law in the U.S.

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Must be a member of the Bar in the United States.

Certifications:

U.S. Bar membership (required).

Skills:

Knowledge of FERC regulations, particularly in the natural gas sector.

Familiarity with energy projects, transactions, and regulatory processes across various energy sectors.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.

Team-oriented with a proactive, client-focused approach.
