A globally recognized food and beverage brand with a strong presence in Japan, operating under a private equity-backed structure, is looking for a Corporate Governance Division Director to build and lead its legal, compliance, and internal controls function.
The Role
- This is a newly created position within a growing consumer-facing business in Japan, offering a rare opportunity to build a Corporate Governance division from the ground up.
- Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead legal, compliance, and internal controls across the business, serving as the key governance advisor to senior management and investor-side stakeholders.
- You will oversee contract management, compliance risk, internal regulations, J-SOX-related frameworks, and escalation processes, while liaising with external lawyers as needed.
Your Skills
- Experience building and maintaining a governance, compliance, or legal function within a business company is required.
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English are mandatory.
- Experience managing teams or cross-functional initiatives is essential.
- A hands-on leadership style with strong communication skills across all levels of the organization is expected.
- Experience in a PE-backed company or multi-site retail or restaurant business is a plus.
