Immigration Paralegal – Removal Defense (EOIR)
Houston, TX | Full-Time | Bilingual (Spanish & English) Required
Nido Nylund Law Firm, a fast-paced, client-centered immigration law practice, is hiring a bilingual paralegal to support our attorneys with removal defense cases before the immigration court (EOIR). You’ll manage hearing and filing deadlines, prepare court documents, and serve as a trusted point of contact for our Spanish-speaking clients from case opening through their final hearing.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and organize filings for immigration court proceedings, including pleadings, motions, applications for relief (e.g., asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status), and supporting evidence
- Track master calendar and individual hearing dates, filing deadlines, and court notices; notify attorneys and clients of required actions
- Maintain case files and ensure documents are accurately organized and stored
- Communicate with clients in Spanish and English regarding case status, required documents, and next steps
- Monitor case status through immigration court (EOIR) records and case tracking systems
- Liaise with the immigration court and opposing counsel (ICE OPLA), when appropriate, to check case progress or resolve procedural issues
- Assemble and prepare hearing packages and exhibit binders ahead of court dates
- Ensure compliance with confidentiality standards and law office policies
Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken) – Required
- Experience with immigration court (EOIR) case processing / removal defense – Required
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Knowledge of Cerenade eImmigration
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing court deadlines in a high-volume environment
Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
