Overview
The Immigration Associate will be responsible for managing a caseload of immigration matters, including conducting removal defense hearings, preparing and filing petitions, applications, and supporting documentation with U.S. immigration authorities. Day-to-day tasks include attending master calendar and individual hearings, conducting legal research, analyzing case facts, drafting legal correspondence, and preparing clients for interviews and hearings. The role involves regular communication with clients to gather information, explain legal options, and provide case updates, as well as coordinating with government agencies and other stakeholders. The Immigration Associate will collaborate with partners and staff on case strategy and maintain detailed, accurate case files. This is a full-time, on-site role located in New York, NY.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law and Immigration Law, with the ability to identify and address complex Legal Issues.
- Prior immigration court hearing experience
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting petitions, applications, affidavits, and legal correspondence.
- Excellent Analytical Skills to review evidence, assess case strength, and develop effective legal strategies.
- Clear and professional Communication skills, both written and verbal, for client interaction and advocacy.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- Prior experience in immigration law.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an office setting while handling confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with legal research tools and case management software; additional language skills are a plus.
