ABOUT YORIS
Yoris is an early-stage African technology startup building an ecosystem across logistics, payments, commerce and digital services.
As we scale across Africa, we need a strong Head of Legal & Compliance who can help us build the legal and compliance framework required to operate responsibly while moving quickly.
This is not simply a legal advisory role.
You will be responsible for helping build the legal, regulatory and compliance infrastructure of the company from the ground up.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements
• Manage franchise, partnership, employment, vendor, technology and service agreements
• Support fundraising, investment and shareholder documentation
• Advise management on commercial and corporate legal matters
• Protect Yoris’ intellectual property, trademarks, technology and confidential information
• Develop legal frameworks for Yoris’ franchise and business operations
• Manage disputes and coordinate external legal counsel where necessary
Compliance
• Develop and maintain Yoris’ compliance framework
• Monitor applicable laws, regulations and regulatory requirements across our markets
• Support licensing, registrations and regulatory filings
• Establish internal compliance policies and procedures
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks
• Develop compliance requirements for partners, franchisees, vendors and other third parties
• Maintain proper corporate, legal and regulatory records
• Support KYC, AML, data protection, consumer protection and other relevant compliance requirements where applicable
• Conduct periodic compliance reviews and recommend corrective actions
• Keep management informed of material legal and regulatory changes
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
• Qualified lawyer with strong commercial/corporate experience
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills
• Good understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks
• Experience in technology, fintech, logistics, payments, e-commerce or startups is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of corporate governance and risk management
• Excellent attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
• Ability to work independently and take ownership
• Strong understanding of how businesses operate

THIS IS A STARTUP
Yoris is an early-stage startup.
There will not always be a manual telling you what to do. Some systems will need to be created from scratch, priorities will change and you may be required to solve problems outside a traditional legal job description.
We need someone who is comfortable with speed, ambiguity, ownership and execution.

₦100,000+ monthly salary + Equity
Your equity will be structured based on your experience, responsibility and contribution, subject to agreed vesting and documentation.
