Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Head of Legal, based in Karachi. The Head of Legal will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters within the bank, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, providing legal consulting, preparing legal documents, and addressing any legal issues that arise. This role requires strategic thinking and thorough understanding of financial regulations, while actively collaborating with other departments to manage legal risks and opportunities.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement legal strategies and policies to support the bank’s objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

Provide legal counsel and support to the executive management team on a wide range of legal issues including corporate governance, contracts, litigation, regulatory matters, and risk management.

Manage relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory authorities, representing the bank in legal proceedings, negotiations, and regulatory inquiries.

Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of various legal documents including agreements, contracts, and other legal instruments.

Monitor changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting the bank and advise management on the potential implications for the bank.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders including compliance, risk management, HR, operations, bank business and finance departments to ensure alignment of legal and business objectives.

Develop and conduct legal training programs for employees to enhance their understanding of legal requirements and best practices.

Lead and mentor the legal team, fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and professionalism.

Qualification

Minimum Graduate

Experiences: A minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 4 years in a leadership role as Head or Deputy Head of Legal.
