I’m currently working on a Head of Legal opportunity with a rapidly growing global Fintech & Payments organisation expanding its presence in Japan. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of legal, regulatory, and compliance matters while helping shape the future direction of the business in one of Asia’s most exciting sectors.
Your new role
- Lead legal and compliance strategy for Japan operations
- Advise on payments, fintech, merchant acquiring, and financial services regulations
- Manage licencing applications, regulatory approvals, and business expansion initiatives
- Act as the primary legal partner to senior leadership and business teams
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial and corporate agreements
- Engage directly with regulators, external counsel, and key stakeholders
What you’ll need to succeed
- Senior legal and/or compliance experience within FinTech, Payments, Banking, or Financial Services
- Strong understanding of Japanese regulatory frameworks and governance requirements
- Business-level Japanese and English
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
- Experience supporting growth-stage or highly regulated businesses is highly desirable
