Role Description The Governance Manager will oversee the association’s governance framework, ensuring that decision-making processes, policies, and procedures are transparent, compliant, and efficient. This part-time hybrid role is based in Manama, with a combination of on-site participation in meetings and events and some work-from-home flexibility for planning, documentation, and coordination tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include organizing and preparing governance meetings, drafting and updating internal regulations and charters, coordinating with board members and working groups, and maintaining accurate records of decisions and actions. The Governance Manager will monitor adherence to governance standards, support risk and compliance efforts, and provide guidance on best practices to strengthen accountability. The role also involves producing clear reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders, facilitating communication across the organization, and contributing to continuous improvement of governance processes.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in governance, compliance, or organizational management, with the ability to design, implement, and improve governance processes.
- Strong skills in policy drafting, documentation, and record-keeping, ensuring accurate, accessible, and well-structured governance materials.
- Ability to coordinate meetings and committees, prepare agendas, track action items, and follow up with stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the capacity to work with diverse groups, facilitate consensus, and manage sensitive information with discretion.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, interpret regulations, and propose practical solutions.
- Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., office suites, shared drives, online meeting platforms) and comfort working in a hybrid environment.
- Relevant academic background in law, public administration, political science, nonprofit management, or a related field is advantageous.
- Prior experience with associations, civil society organizations, or advocacy initiatives is a strong plus.
