The Meador Law Firm is seeking an experienced litigation paralegal who can independently organize cases, manage deadlines, support attorneys, and keep matters moving forward. This is not an entry-level position.

The right candidate will be dependable, organized, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of assigned matters. We need someone who identifies the next required action, follows through without constant supervision, and communicates clearly with attorneys, clients, courts, and other parties.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage civil litigation matters from opening through resolution.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, discovery responses, subpoenas, correspondence, notices, and other legal documents.
  • File documents through Missouri state and federal electronic filing systems.
  • Calculate, calendar, verify, and monitor court deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate case information, documents, notes, deadlines, and tasks in Clio.
  • Review court dockets and ensure attorneys are informed of upcoming deadlines, hearings, and required actions.
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, trials, expert witnesses, and client meetings.
  • Organize and summarize medical records, discovery materials, evidence, deposition transcripts, and other case documents.
  • Prepare exhibits, witness files, trial binders, and other trial materials.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and provide routine case updates.
  • Obtain records from medical providers, government agencies, employers, courts, and other organizations.
  • Follow up on outstanding records, discovery, attorney reviews, client information, and court filings.
  • Assist with personal injury, civil litigation, criminal, and other matters as assigned.
  • Review work for accuracy before it is submitted to an attorney or filed with the court.
  • Help maintain consistent procedures, task lists, and quality-control standards.
  • Protect confidential and privileged client information at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • At least five years of substantive paralegal or litigation-support experience.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing pleadings and discovery.
  • Experience filing documents in Missouri courts.
  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures and deadline management.
  • Ability to manage multiple active matters and competing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, accuracy, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while keeping attorneys and leadership informed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PDF documents, and electronic case files.
  • Professional and respectful communication with clients, courts, attorneys, and coworkers.
  • Reliable attendance and consistent follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Clio Manage or comparable case-management software.
  • Experience with Missouri Case.net and federal PACER/CM/ECF.
  • Personal injury, civil litigation, criminal, or trial-preparation experience.
  • Paralegal certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records.
  • Experience improving workflows or training legal-support employees.

What Success Looks Like

A successful paralegal in this position:

  • Knows the status and next action for every assigned matter.
  • Does not allow deadlines or client communications to be overlooked.
  • Produces accurate work requiring minimal correction.
  • Anticipates what attorneys will need before hearings, depositions, and trials.
  • Follows up until assignments are completed.
  • Communicates problems early instead of allowing them to become emergencies.
  • Maintains calm, professionalism, and good judgment in a busy legal environment.
  • Contributes to an organized, accountable, and team-oriented workplace.
