Your technical expertise will be applied across areas such as telecommunications, semiconductors, AI/ML, cloud, software, consumer technology, and medical devices.

You will work closely with legal teams, executives, expert witnesses, and other senior stakeholders, translating complex technical findings into clear strategic insights.

This is an opportunity to influence practice standards, develop technical talent, and contribute to high-stakes matters within a global, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop technical consultants and IP experts, including distributed contributors across multiple locations, with responsibility for hiring, performance management, coaching, career development, and retention.
  • Own delivery across a portfolio of concurrent patent litigation, licensing, and IP consulting engagements, including scoping, planning, budgeting, staffing, milestones, utilization, risk management, and on-time delivery.
  • Serve as the senior delivery owner for high-value and time-sensitive matters, proactively identifying dependencies and escalating risks with practical solutions.
  • Establish and maintain high-quality standards for technical work, including review protocols, documentation, peer review, defensibility checks, and consistent methodologies.
  • Build repeatable playbooks, templates, training programs, and operational processes that improve delivery efficiency and reduce reliance on individual expertise.
  • Champion the adoption of AI-enabled tools and help shape technology, workflows, and knowledge-management practices used by technical teams.
  • Manage senior client relationships by leading status discussions, resolving escalations, advising on technical approaches, and communicating findings to legal, executive, financial, and other non-technical audiences.
  • Direct and quality-control technical analyses involving claim charts, source code review, reverse engineering, technical due diligence, patent portfolio analysis, damages-supporting work, and expert report preparation.
  • Develop technical narratives that connect rigorous analysis with litigation strategy and support expert witnesses through technical briefing, analysis direction, and preparation of supporting exhibits.
  • Support account expansion by identifying follow-on opportunities within existing client relationships and collaborating with business development teams, while keeping delivery leadership as the primary focus.
  • Represent the practice at industry events, panels, and professional education programs while remaining current on relevant technology, intellectual property, and litigation trends.
  • Partner with functions including legal, finance, product, and people operations to improve cross-functional processes, operating standards, and organizational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline; an advanced degree, MBA, or JD is a plus.
  • 10+ years of combined experience in technical consulting, IP strategy, patent litigation support, licensing, patent law, or related fields, including senior client-facing delivery leadership.
  • At least 5 years of direct people-management experience with responsibility for hiring, performance reviews, coaching, development, and team growth.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent programs or projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, utilization, dependencies, and risk management.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in at least one high-tech domain, such as telecommunications and wireless, semiconductors and hardware, AI/ML and cloud, software and platforms, or consumer, automotive, and medical technologies.
  • Familiarity with patent litigation and IP workflows, including infringement and invalidity analysis, claim charts, source code review, expert reports, IPR and post-grant proceedings, patent licensing, patent monetization, SEPs, FRAND commitments, and trade secret matters.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and sufficient technical depth to direct and quality-control work involving source code, data analysis, and AI-assisted analytical tools.
  • Strong program and project management capabilities, with experience using structured operating rhythms, project tracking platforms, utilization reporting, capacity planning, and leadership reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead distributed or cross-time-zone teams and allocate shared technical resources effectively.
  • Excellent client-management and stakeholder-engagement skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, executives, attorneys, judges, juries, and other non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional technical writing and presentation skills for reports, whitepapers, expert materials, and legal documentation.
  • A track record of building processes, standards, methodologies, or internal tools that improve team performance and delivery quality.
  • Prior experience in IP litigation consulting, expert services, technical analysis, digital forensics, law firm IP practices, in-house IP or licensing, patent prosecution, or patent monetization is highly valued.
  • Experience supporting expert witnesses, large-scale data or source-code reviews, patent litigation, or licensing programs is a significant advantage.
  • USPTO registration, an active bar license, PMP certification, or Certified ScrumMaster credentials are advantageous but not required.
