My client, a global chemicals company is looking to hire a Deputy General Counsel, with the ability to be in office (various locations) or fully remote. The Deputy General Counsel will play a critical role in our legal department, providing strategic legal advice and support to senior management and various departments. This position requires a deep understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, EHS law, labor and employment, M&A, data privacy, litigation management, and intellectual property. The Deputy General Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel to ensure that our business operations comply with all relevant laws and regulations while supporting our strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and support to senior management and cross-functional teams.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
Oversee and manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Manage corporate governance and compliance programs.
Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and legal staff.
Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed.
Monitor and advise on regulatory changes and their impact on the business.
Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate risks and support business goals.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the state bar.
Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, preferably in the chemical manufacturing industry or a related field.
Strong knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, EHS. M&A, labor and employment, data privacy, and intellectual property.
Proven experience in managing litigation and dispute resolution.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
