We are seeking an experienced Deputy General Counsel to join our team in a dynamic manufacturing company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business law, regulatory compliance, and risk management. They will play a key role in protecting the company’s legal interests and managing complex legal issues.
Responsibilities:
Legal Advice: Provide strategic legal advice to management and various departments.
Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts including sales, purchase, partnership, and licensing agreements.
Litigation: Manage litigation, disputes, and product recalls, coordinating with external lawyers and regulatory authorities.
Anti-trust: Advise on anti-trust/competition matters.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with laws and regulations at local, provincial, federal levels, including environmental, safety, consumer packaged goods, and privacy laws in Canada, the US, and Europe.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks.
Internal Policies: Develop and enforce legal policies and procedures.
Training: Provide legal training to employees.
Negotiations: Represent the company in negotiations with partners, suppliers, and customers.
Qualifications:
Law Degree: LL.B. or equivalent.
Bar Admission: Admitted to a Canadian or US Bar.
Experience: Minimum 3 years in private practice, with at least 10 years of legal experience, preferably in the CPG manufacturing sector.
Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, project management, ethics, and analytical skills.
