Job Summary
Our law firm is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) Paralegal with at least 2 or more years of family-related immigration law experience. This role is focused strictly on the legal side of casework, including removal defense and benefit applications. We are looking for a support person who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to integrate seamlessly with an existing legal team.
Responsibilities (Legal Production Focus)
- Case Management: Manage cases from A-Z, ensuring all legal milestones and deadlines are met.
- Form Preparation: Prepare USCIS forms for cases such as Asylum, Family Petitions, U-Visas, and VAWA.
- Litigation Support: Analyze case documents and prepare immigration applications for filing with the Immigration Court (EOIR), BIA, and 9th Circuit.
- Documentation: Collect relevant information and documents in support of applications, including affidavits and petitions.
- Quality Control: Fill out applications accurately and review for errors prior to final attorney review and approval.
- Procedural Knowledge: Maintain familiarity with EOIR and immigration court proceedings.
- Client Updates: Update clients on case progress and answer legal/procedural questions.
- Record Keeping: Provide detailed notes in the office case management system.
- Caseload Management: Must be comfortable and efficient with a large caseload.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1–2+ years of immigration experience is a must.
- Language: Must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of USCIS cases and immigration law.
- Soft Skills: Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and maintain excellent verbal/written communication.
- Professionalism: Excellent phone skills and organizational/prioritizing abilities.
- Precision: Extreme attention to detail is required.
Schedule & Benefits
- Work Schedule: In-person, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
- Hybrid Schedule: Up to 2 days remote may be available after 4–6 months of employment, based on performance and office needs.
