Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and ensure organization-wide compliance with GDPR, and where applicable, other data protection frameworks (e.g., CySEC, FCA, ASIC, or other relevant financial regulator data-handling requirements) relevant to the CFD/brokerage industry.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities, regulators, and data subjects on all matters related to data processing.
- Conduct regular Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new products, platforms, or third-party integrations (e.g., trading platforms, CRM systems, payment gateways).
- Maintain and update the company's Records of Processing Activities (ROPA).
- Review and advise on data processing agreements (DPAs) with third-party vendors, liquidity providers, payment processors, and marketing/affiliate partners.
- Oversee compliance related to client KYC/AML documentation, ensuring secure and lawful handling of sensitive personal and financial data.
- Develop, implement, and update internal data protection policies, procedures, and training programs for staff across departments (sales, support, marketing, IT).
- Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs), complaints, and data breach incidents within regulatory timeframes.
- Conduct periodic audits and risk assessments of data handling practices across the organization, including CRM, trading platforms, and marketing tools.
- Liaise with IT/security teams to ensure appropriate technical and organizational measures (encryption, access controls, data retention policies) are in place.
- Keep abreast of evolving data protection regulations and financial industry-specific compliance requirements, advising senior management accordingly.
- Prepare and present periodic compliance reports to senior management and, where required, regulatory bodies.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- 3–4 years of experience in a Data Protection Officer, Compliance Officer, or Data Privacy role — experience within the CFD, Forex, or online trading/brokerage industry is highly preferred/required.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Information Security, or a related field.
- Professional certification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CDPO, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
- Solid working knowledge of GDPR and familiarity with data protection requirements under financial regulators relevant to CFDs (e.g., CySEC, FCA, FSCA, ASIC, or similar, depending on jurisdiction).
