About the Role
As a Customs Relations Lead is responsible for ensuring the company's compliance with all customs regulations, managing customs audits and dispute resolution processes, overseeing customs clearance activities, and administering licenses and certifications related to import and export operations. This role serves as the primary liaison between the company, Customs authorities, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to minimize compliance risks and support smooth business operations.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all import and export activities comply with applicable customs regulations and government requirements.
- Monitor changes in customs regulations and provide recommendations for policy implementation and compliance improvements.
- Review and oversee customs documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage and coordinate customs audits conducted by relevant authorities.
- Prepare supporting documents, data, and responses required during audit processes.
- Handle customs objections, disputes, and investigations related to tariff classification, customs valuation, import duties, administrative sanctions, and audit findings.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize audit findings, penalties, and customs-related sanctions.
- Manage licenses, registrations, and certifications related to the company's import and export activities.
- Ensure all customs-related licenses and certifications remain valid, active, and renewed in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Customs authorities, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Accounting, Management, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 7-8 years of experience in Customs, Trade Compliance, Customs Audit, Import-Export Operations, or related functions, including team leadership experience.
- Mandatory certification in Brevet A & B Taxation.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, import-export procedures, HS Code classification, import duties, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience in handling customs audits, objections, disputes, or investigations conducted by Customs authorities.
- Experience in managing certifications, licenses, and legal documentation related to import-export activities.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with customs administration systems, tax applications, and compliance-related tools.
- USKP certification or other customs-related certifications will be an advantage.
