Entry level applicants must successfully pass the Frontline test with the National Testing Network (NTN) AND pass the ORPAT (5:30 or less) prior to submitting an application.

Out of state applicants may submit their application without an ORPAT but a passing time will be a condition of any final offer.

Lateral applicants are not required to complete the testing (Frontline and ORPAT) through the National Testing Network, at this time. A “lateral” is defined as anyone who has been through

the academy and holds (or has held) a certification in the discipline for which they are applying.

The application for testing is not an application for Linn County employment. A completed PHQ with NTN is not required.Upon completion of the Frontline exam and ORPAT testing, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
