Erstad & Riemer, P.A., a growing insurance defense firm in Edina, Minnesota, that has a great opportunity for a legal administrative assistant to join our office. The firm has a workers’ compensation department and civil litigation department. The position will require working with attorneys in both departments. Erstad & Riemer, P.A., has a hybrid workspace with employees working both from home and in the office. Experience in insurance defense or civil litigation is preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with attorneys to provide superior customer service to the firm’s clients.
- Work with confidential information.
- Assist with litigation, including conflicts checks, open new files, assist with billing, and maintain paper and electronic files using PracticeMaster and TABS.
- Assist with drafting of legal pleadings, correspondence, and other written materials.
- Assist with e-filing of legal pleadings in various state and federal courts and administrative agencies.
- Handle incoming mail, both US Mail and court generated notices/pleadings.
- Schedule depositions, expert witness examinations and other discovery.
- Maintain attorney’s calendars and manage task/deadline reminders.
- Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, and other office professionals.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have minimum of two years of experience as a legal administrative assistant or paralegal. Experience with Minnesota workers’ compensation litigation or with general civil litigation is a plus. The candidate must have excellent typing and computer skills, with proficiency, using the Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of PracticeMaster and TABS case management software is a plus.
Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to interact effectively and professionally with management, staff and external entities including clients of the firm is required.
