This well known and well respected law firm in Hartford, CT is looking for part-time criminal defense law clerks for the upcoming school year!
Position Details:
- Practice areas: Criminal Defense
- Hours: 10–15 hours per week (with potential for more)
- Schedule: Flexible — we understand the demands of law school and are happy to work around your class and exam schedules
- Location: Hartford, CT (in-person only)
Job Description:
We are a busy and continuously growing criminal defense and personal injury law firm seeking a motivated and detail-oriented law clerk to join our criminal defense team on a part-time basis. This is a great opportunity for a current law students interested in gaining hands-on experience in criminal defense law while balancing their academic commitments. We are also on the approved list for externship credits if needed for your program with QU School of Law.
Responsibilities:
- Summarize and synthesize discovery, including arrest warrant affidavits, search and seizure warrants, and police body cam footage
- Analyze criminal procedure issues
- Draft motions to the court, including motions to suppress evidence, under the supervision of our attorneys
- Prepare mitigation packets for clients
- Prepare pardon applications and represent clients in virtual pardon hearings
- Shadow our attorneys at various court hearings
- Pick up discovery at Hartford Superior Court (walking distance from the office)
Successful applicants will:
- Have taken criminal procedure (not required, but preferred)
- Be independent, proactive, and willing to learn quickly
- Have excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong legal research and writing skills with attention to detail
- Be able to handle cases of sensitive nature with professionalism
- Have prior legal or office experience (not required, but preferred)
