Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in PRC law and will support our attorneys in cross-border transactions, corporate compliance, and daily legal operations. This role requires excellent bilingual communication skills and the ability to navigate both local and mainland Chinese legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on PRC laws, administrative regulations, and local policies; monitor and summarize relevant legislative changes and industry guidelines.
- Draft, review, and proofread a variety of legal documents, including commercial contracts, corporate resolutions, NDAs, and legal memoranda in both English and Chinese.
- Assist in the establishment, maintenance, and restructuring of PRC entities; manage corporate filings, chops, and licenses.
- Act as a point of contact between the internal legal team, business units, and external Mainland Chinese counsel or government authorities.
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic legal files, databases, and document management systems.
- Assist with legalization/notarization processes, coordinate meetings, prepare execution copies of agreements, and handle other ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent. A law degree from a recognized university in mainland China is highly preferred.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience as a paralegal or legal assistant within a law firm or the in-house legal department of a multinational corporation.
- Solid understanding of the PRC legal system, particularly in areas such as Corporate/Commercial, Employment, Foreign Investment, or Intellectual Property law.
- PRC Legal Professional Qualification Certificate (PRC Bar) is a strong advantage but not strictly required.
- Fluent in Cantonese, Mandarun and English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research databases
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality, and the capacity to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
