Job Title: CogentEdge Litigation Consultant
Description: Hybrid role primarily performing all tasks associated with witness preparation services (75%) and jury related litigation consulting (25%). Witness preparation includes preparing witnesses for deposition testimony, trial testimony, licensing board hearing testimony and corporate representative testimony. Jury related litigation consulting includes mock trials/focus group moderation, online jury research, shadow juries, jury selection, community attitude surveys, voir dire, demographic profiling, reporting and other related litigation consulting services.
Client Facing Skills and Leadership
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills. Work collaboratively with consultants and clients. Work hand in hand with the sales team to close deals for litigation and jury consulting related projects. Take ownership of projects from intake to delivery.
CogentEdge Litigation Consultant Skills
CogentEdge litigation consultants have high emotional intelligence and self-awareness, including ability to connect with witnesses on an emotional level. Possess ability to teach with the Socratic Method and help the witness learn various listening skills that will allow witness to take control of his/her own testimony. Excellent logic and reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze cases thoroughly, evaluate arguments objectively, and demonstrating strong critical thinking capabilities. Strong ability to cross-examine witnesses.
Jury Consultant Skills
Jury consultants understand reliable research methods and possess a keen insight into human behavior, motivation, and decision-making heuristics. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, as well as exceptional writing, speaking and presentation skills, are essential. Performing research and confident consulting, such as making strategic recommendations to clients, are integral skills for the role. Candidates should have exceptional abilities in qualitative and quantitative analysis and bring the full scope of their professional experience as primary tools of the trade. Knowledge of social science research methodology is key.
Pretrial Duties
Deposition preparation, trial testimony preparation, licensing hearing preparation, 30(b)(6) witness identification and preparation, mock trials/focus group moderation, online jury research, community attitude surveys, voir dire, demographic profiling, reporting, etc.
Trial Duties
Shadow juries, jury selection, juror social media/public records research, trial monitoring, strategic consulting, visual communication consulting, etc.
Educational and experience
J.D. required. Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience. Minimum of bachelors degree in psychology or related field (i.e., neuroscience, communication, etc.) required, graduate degree (Ph.D. and/or Masters) preferred. Client development skills are also helpful but not required.
Technical Skills
Microsoft Office Suite, general understanding of presentation technology.
Compensation: Total compensation packages start at $115,000 and increase based on each applicants level of experience, skillset, desire/aptitude to take on more senior-level consulting engagements, etc. Magna will offer each applicant a total compensation package based on those factors, among others.
An employees total compensation package will be based on several factors Including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs.
