Watts & Associates is working discreetly with a highly regarded Am Law 200 ranked national law firm seeking a 3rd to 4th year Corporate Transactions Associate to join its Chicago office.
This is a transactional role focused on mergers and acquisitions and related corporate work for sophisticated clients. The position is well suited to an associate who is ready to take meaningful ownership of deal workstreams while working closely with senior attorneys through signing, closing and related corporate deliverables.
The firm offers a well established national and international platform with a collaborative, team oriented culture and a strong commitment to client service. The Chicago team works on a fully in office schedule, supporting regular in person collaboration and partner led development.
The Opportunity
You will support M and A matters across the deal lifecycle, including due diligence, drafting and negotiating transaction documents, coordinating specialist input, managing closing processes and assisting with post closing matters. The practice also advises on broader corporate and commercial issues that arise in connection with acquisitions, strategic transactions and ongoing business needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The firm is seeking a 3rd to 4th year Corporate Transactions Associate with:
- 3 to 4 years of transactional experience with meaningful exposure to mergers and acquisitions work
- Experience drafting and negotiating transaction documents and managing due diligence processes
- Excellent academic credentials
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style with internal teams and clients
- Active bar admission in Illinois or Georgia
