The Role
HII – America’s largest shipbuilder and a global, all‑domain defense provider – is seeking a Senior Counsel 1 (Trade Compliance) at our Newport News, Virginia office. This candidate will report directly to HII’s Chief Compliance Officer. The role requires extreme analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. The candidate will serve as the key node between business units and the Enterprise Trade Compliance Program, operating independently while communicating effectively with the Chief Compliance Officer and senior division leaders.

Have
Juris Doctor Law degree and 6 years of experience
Nice to Have
- 4 years of International Trade Compliance Experience
- Internal Investigation Experience
- Defense Industry and/or USG Experience
- Government Contracts Experience
- In‑House Legal Experience
- Active Security Clearance
