Role Description
This is a full-time, project-based Corporate Lawyer role located on-site in Colombo. The Corporate Lawyer will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and corporate documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Responsibilities include advising internal stakeholders and clients on corporate governance, regulatory requirements, and risk management for project-related activities. The role involves conducting legal research, preparing opinions and reports, and supporting transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and investments. The Corporate Lawyer will work closely with cross-functional teams, coordinate with external counsel when needed, and maintain accurate documentation and records for all assigned projects.
Qualifications
- Strong corporate and commercial law skills, including experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
- Proficiency in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management for corporate and project-based work.
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research, prepare clear legal opinions, and analyze complex legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, and to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Licensed Attorney with a recognized law degree; prior experience in a law firm or corporate legal department is highly beneficial.
- Experience in corporate transactions (e.g., M&A, joint ventures, investments) and familiarity with local laws and regulations in Colombo or the broader region.
- High level of professional integrity, discretion in handling confidential information, and commitment to ethical practice.
