Corporate Counsel, Employment & Litigation (California)
Location: Remote (California-based candidates) or Salt Lake City, UT
Experience: 5–8+ Years
We’re seeking an experienced employment attorney who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment and enjoys partnering closely with business leaders to solve complex workforce challenges.
This role will serve as a key member of the Employment Practices Legal team, owning a portfolio of California employment matters while partnering with HR, Employee Relations, and operational leadership to proactively manage legal risk across a large and growing healthcare organization.
This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional litigation management and become a strategic advisor who helps shape employment practices, influence business decisions, and build scalable legal infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Wage & Hour
- PAGA
- Wrongful Termination
- Respond to agency charges and administrative complaints
- Draft position statements, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence
- Partner with HR and Employee Relations on sensitive employee matters
- Advise operational leaders on workforce decisions and employment risk
- Manage outside counsel, budgets, and litigation strategy
- Identify trends and develop proactive risk mitigation initiatives
- Support employment law training, policy development, and compliance efforts
- Help build scalable processes and playbooks that improve consistency and reduce risk
What We’re Looking For
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 5–8+ years of employment law experience
- Strong background in California wage & hour and PAGA matters
- Experience handling employment litigation and administrative claims
- Ability to translate legal risk into practical business guidance
- Experience partnering with HR and operational leaders
- Strong writing, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
