Job Description
Worthington Enterprises is hiring a Corporate Counsel to join our legal team. This role will serve as a trusted legal advisor to Worthington Enterprises, Inc., its subsidiaries and its affiliates, providing practical, business-focused counsel across a broad range of matters.
The Corporate Counsel will partner with leaders throughout the organization on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and business ventures, commercial contracts, labor and employment matters, compliance and regulatory issues, and risk and litigation management.
Required Qualifications
- 3-7 years of experience at a leading law firm or corporate legal department (or combination thereof
- J.D. from a selective law school, admitted to practice law and good standing in Ohio or another state with ability to become licensed or registered as in-house counsel in Ohio within 12 months and as soon as possible upon hire;
- Outstanding written and oral business communication skills;
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills;
- Strong drafting and negotiating skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with both flexibility and effective time management skills to balance multiple priorities;
- Comfortable taking ownership and accountability for projects; and
- Strong commitment to high quality work product and organizational ethics, integrity and compliance.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Experience with commercial transactions;
- Strong business judgment and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated understanding of business problems and ability to evaluate and determine appropriate legal course of action to meet business unit needs;
- Ability to work independently or as a part of a team;
- Ability to coordinate, manage and collaborate with outside counsel;
- Work well with a wide range of personalities, expectations, and competing deadlines and demands;
- Competency with current technology, including ability to perform legal research;
- Ability to effectively interface with a broad range of key stakeholders;
- Ability to quickly learn the various business areas and respond to changing needs based on the growth of the organization; and
- Experience identifying and implementing new processes and systems to drive operational efficiencies.
