Junior Conveyancer
Role Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Junior Conveyancer to support day-to-day conveyancing operations. The ideal candidate will assist with the preparation and review of legal documentation related to property transactions, coordinate with clients, banks, and relevant authorities, manage case progress from initiation to completion, and ensure all matters are handled efficiently while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess the legal and technical aspects of conveyancing cases and identify the necessary actions required
- Manage assigned cases from start to completion, ensuring timely progress and accountability to clients and stakeholders
- Communicate effectively with clients, banks, solicitors, and other stakeholders via email and telephone in line with the firm’s service level agreements (SLAs)
- Prepare, review, and maintain legal documents, records, and case files with a high level of accuracy
- Update and maintain the case management system, ensuring all case information is current and accurately recorded
- Liaise with internal support teams to facilitate the smooth progression and timely completion of conveyancing matters
- Participate in weekly and ad hoc meetings with the Board of Directors to provide case updates, discuss process improvements, and report on assigned projects
- Ensure all conveyancing transactions comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and company requirements
Requirements
- LLB qualification from a recognized university or currently part-qualified in Law
- Strong proficiency in both Sinhala and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to assess legal documentation accurately
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple cases effectively
- Ability to work independently, remain flexible, and perform well under pressure to meet critical deadlines
- Proactive approach with strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- Previous experience in conveyancing or a legal support role will be considered an added advantage
