Introduction

The Contracts Technician supports the Projects Group in the administration, coordination, and documentation of engineering, construction and service contracts for large-scale mining projects. This role focuses on ensuring contract data integrity, maintaining records, supporting commercial processes, and facilitating efficient contract execution in alignment with company policies and project requirements.

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid Work Schedule, 3 days onsite/2 days remote)

Duration: 1 year, potential to renew

Travel: The Project Team is based in Kamloops, travel may be required once per quarter

Responsibilities

Contract Administration Support

  • Assist in the preparation, issuance, and tracking of contract documents, including RFQs, bid packages, amendments, and change orders.
  • Review of monthly progress payments and invoices to validate contractor invoices against contract terms and progress.
  • Maintain contract files, logs, and registers (e.g., commitments, changes, claims, correspondence).
  • Support contract execution processes from award through closeout.
  • Ensure contract documentation is complete, accurate, and auditable.

Data Management & Systems

  • Maintain contract data in systems (e.g., Oracle, Aconex, SharePoint)
  • Update and reconcile contract values, commitments, and spend tracking reports
  • Generate regular reports on contract status, costs, and changes for the project team.
  • Support document control processes for commercial documentation.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with internal teams (engineering, procurement, project controls, health & safety legal).
  • Coordinate with contractors on invoicing, change documentation and contract requirements.
  • Support communication flow related to contract deliverables and milestones.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with company contracting policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Support audits by maintaining accurate and traceable contract records
  • Assist in ensuring alignment with Indigenous, local content, and regulatory obligations where applicable.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
  • 1–4 years of experience in contracts administration, procurement, or project support (preferably in mining, construction, or infrastructure).
  • Familiarity with contract types (lump sum, unit rate, reimbursable) is an asset.
  • Experience with ERP, contract management systems and document management systems (e.g., Oracle, Aconex) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and document accuracy.
  • Solid organizational and data management skills.
  • Basic understanding of commercial and contractual principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (tracking, lookups, data cleaning) and document tools.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
