About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Commercial Director, Altrad is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join the central commercial team, based at our Subiaco head office.

As a key member of the Commercial team, you will take ownership of contract management across the full project lifecycle, leading the negotiation, administration, and performance of head contracts and subcontracts while protecting the business from contractual and financial risk.

Working closely with project and operational teams, you will provide clear commercial direction and ensure strong, disciplined contract outcomes across a portfolio of complex projects.

This is a pivotal role offering the opportunity to drive project success, build capability within the commercial and operational teams, and contribute to a growing business.

In this role you will:

  • Lead precontract reviews including risk analysis, mitigation strategies, qualifications, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and other key commercial documents.
  • Own and administer head contract obligations, including progress claims, variations, extensions of time, and final accounts to ensure timely and favourable outcomes.
  • Develop and implement contract strategies in collaboration with Project Managers to mitigate risk and maximise commercial opportunities.
  • Manage subcontract and supplier commercial relationships end-to-end, including the preparation and execution of subcontract agreements.
  • Provide clear commercial insight, identifying contractual risks and opportunities and recommending corrective actions.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop commercial team members, fostering a proactive, high-performance culture.
  • Support tendering and business development activities through commercial input, risk assessment, and market insight.
  • Drive compliance with contractual, financial, and HSEQ requirements, ensuring adherence to company systems and governance standards.
  • Support the standardisation and continuous improvement of supply chain and contract documentation.
  • Manage insurance renewals and claims, and maintain effective relationships with insurance brokers.

About you

  • Proven experience in a Contracts Manager or Senior Contracts role within the construction or industrial services industry, ideally across project delivery and framework environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of head contract administration, subcontract management, and claims including variations, EOTs, and final accounts.
  • Sound commercial acumen with the ability to interpret, negotiate, and administer complex contracts confidently.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive contract performance and protect business interests through proactive risk management and strategic thinking.
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience mentoring and developing commercial or contracts teams in a project environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working across project, client, and operational teams.
  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Law, or a related discipline.
