Job Summary
Alden Kinsley PLLC seeks experienced Virginia litigators for engagement-based commercial dispute work. This role is designed for lawyers who can own a matter rather than simply complete isolated litigation tasks. The Responsible Attorney should understand the client’s objectives, build strategy, negotiate intelligently, communicate directly with the client, and litigate when resolution is not available.
Responsibilities
- Assess new disputes and develop practical strategy.
- Lead client communications and negotiations with opposing counsel.
- Draft demands, pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and substantive correspondence.
- Take/defend depositions and participate in mediation.
- Handle hearings, court appearances, and trial preparation within your Virginia coverage region.
- Use litigation professionals and technology efficiently while remaining accountable for the matter.
Qualifications
- Active Virginia Bar license in good standing.
- Meaningful civil/commercial litigation experience.
- Strong judgment, negotiation, writing, and client-service skills.
- Virginia courtroom experience; federal experience valued.
- Ability to appear in person for hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, and client meetings as required.
- Comfort working independently in a distributed, remote-first environment.
- Technology fluency. We use AI-assisted research and drafting tools as force multipliers, never substitutes for verification or professional judgment.
Engagement & Compensation
Contract / engagement-based. Most substantive work is remote; in-person proceedings are required when the matter calls for them. Compensation generally targets approximately $175-$200/hour based on experience, responsibility, availability, and engagement. No guaranteed hours and no book-of-business requirement. Work is driven by client demand, conflicts, availability, capability, and performance.
Pay: $175.00 – $200.00 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 40.0 per week
