Essex Bank is seeking a Compliance Officer to help manage the Bank’s compliance management system and assist with the Vendor Management and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs.
In this role, you will provide support for the compliance management system and work with management across IT, Lending, Marketing, Trust, and Accounting. You will help monitor the Bank’s compliance with applicable state and federal regulations (excluding BSA and HR) while assisting in efforts to protect the institution from undue risk. This position is fully in office.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Oversight: Review and summarizing new and amended Federal Regulations and State laws for senior management’s consideration.
- Committee Leadership: Chair the Internal Compliance Committee and provide support for internal compliance-related committees and meetings. Provide reports to the Board Compliance Committee. Serve as a contributing participant at the Bank’s internal Privacy, Information Security, and Branch/Department meetings, as assigned.
- Audit and Exam Support: Act as initial contact to assist with gathering documentation and coordinating responses for internal audits and regulatory exams, including FDIC Connect. Escalate questions to Senior Leadership and departments heads and, when appropriate, assist with coordinating legal review to confirm policies comply with federal and state law.
- Vendor Management and CRA Support: Manage the Vendor Management Program by maintaining documentation, monitoring follow-up items, and supporting sound VMP audit results.
- Monitor the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program by assisting with data collection, performance tracking, reporting, outreach coordination, and regulatory examination preparation. Work with Bank officers, management, and community groups to help ensure the Bank continues to be compliant and meet the credit needs of its communities, including low- and moderate-income areas, consistent with safe banking practices.
- Team Support: Provide guidance, training and day-to-day oversite of the assistant in their handling of Compliance, Vendor Management, and CRA duties.
- Cross-Functional Support: Assist management in coordinating compliance goals, documentation, and training needs across I.T., Lending, Marketing, Trust, Deposit/BSA, and Accounting.
- Community and Regulatory Participation: Participate in civic functions, business association meetings, and regulatory events as appropriate to support the Bank’s compliance and CRA efforts.
Knowledge and Skills:
BS/BA and 4-7 years of experience in banking including bank compliance. Must possess excellent team building, and interpersonal skills to motivate people towards reaching collaborative conclusions with tact, diplomacy, and integrity. Requires high level of organization, strong analytical and decision-making skills. Must have working knowledge in Microsoft Office and managing projects. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
