The Commercial Real Estate Paralegal provides substantive legal and transactional support to attorneys in the Real Estate Practice Group. This position assists with all phases of commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, and leasing matters. Paralegals play a critical role in transaction management, title & survey review, due diligence, closing coordination, and post-closing activities while ensuring exceptional client service and accuracy in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple transactions simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings, developments, and leasing matters.
- Order, review, and analyze title commitments, title exception documents, surveys, zoning reports, and other due diligence materials.
- Prepare title and survey summaries and assist attorneys with identifying and resolving title and survey issues.
- Coordinate due diligence review and organize transaction documents.
- Prepare and maintain transaction checklists and monitor critical deadlines.
- Draft, revise, proofread, and manage real estate transaction documents and closing deliverables.
- Coordinate with title companies, surveyors, lenders, borrowers, purchasers, sellers, and opposing counsel throughout transactions.
- Manage closing calendars and critical transaction timelines.
- Assemble electronic and physical closing binders.
- Track execution and receipt of transaction documents.
- Coordinate funding documentation and closing deliverables.
- Prepare post-closing materials and maintain complete transaction records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a commercial real estate paralegal.
- Law firm experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial real estate transactions and debt financing processes.
- Experience reviewing title commitments, surveys, and related due diligence materials.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage numerous transactions and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with document management systems and electronic closing platforms.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
