Commercial Contracts & Technology Lawyer – International Firm London
A leading international law firm is looking to hire a Commercial Contracts & Technology Associate (3+ PQE) into its London-based Commercial & Technology team, as part of a continued strategic investment in its global practice.
This represents an opportunity to join a highly integrated, cross-border team, advising on complex, technology-driven commercial arrangements for a diverse and international client base. The role is ideally suited to lawyers who enjoy working at the intersection of law, technology, and
business transformation.
The team advises on a broad spectrum of commercial and technology transactions, often forming a key part of wider, multi-jurisdictional mandates. Lawyers in the group are regularly involved in matters that are strategically important to clients’ operations, digital infrastructure, and long-term growth plans.
The role offers exposure to:

- Technology transactions, including software development, licensing, and SaaS arrangements
- Outsourcing and managed services agreements, often large-scale and business-critical
- Cloud computing and digital transformation projects
- Distribution, reseller, and supply arrangements
- Cross-border projects requiring coordination across multiple jurisdictions and legal systems
This is a broad, hands-on role where associates are expected to operate as trusted advisers to clients, rather than purely technical drafters. Day-to-day responsibilities typically include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating bespoke commercial and technology agreements
- Advising clients on risk allocation, liability frameworks, and contractual strategy
- Supporting on large-scale outsourcing and digital transformation projects, often involving multiple stakeholders
- Working closely with clients’ legal, procurement, and technical teams
- Collaborating with colleagues across international offices on multi-jurisdictional matters
- Contributing to client relationship development and business development initiatives
The role offers a strong blend of technical drafting, commercial input, and client interaction, making it particularly attractive for lawyers looking to develop into well-rounded, client-facing advisers.

- 3+ years’ PQE
- Solid experience in commercial contracts and technology-related matters
- Exposure to areas such as outsourcing, software, cloud, and licensing arrangements
- Experience with distribution, reseller, or broader commercial agreements
- Strong drafting skills and attention to detail
- Confidence operating in a client-facing capacity
- A genuine interest in technology, fintech, and digital sectors
This is intentionally a broad commercial role with a technology focus, rather than a narrow specialism, making it well suited to candidates who enjoy variety and sector exposure.
- Part of a fully integrated global practice, spanning 40+ offices
- Strong emphasis on cross-border collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Close alignment with sector specialists across technology, financial services, healthcare, energy, and retail
- A culture built around collaboration, entrepreneurial thinking, and client engagement

- A platform that supports long-term progression and skill development
- An environment that encourages initiative, commercial thinking, and collaboration
Compensation & Process
- Competitive City salary (aligned with leading international firms)
- Approx. £120k at NQ level, with progression thereafter
- Discretionary bonus structure
Typically a 2–3 stage process, including partner and team interviews, designed to assess both technical capability and cultural fit.
