Position Summary:
The Litigation Counsel’s work will focus primarily on managing and overseeing US and Canadian litigation, including providing legal guidance to our Leadership and Human Resources teams and partnering with cross-functional business teams to manage risks and pursue opportunities presented by legal disputes in North America.
Job Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Company’s Deputy General Counsel, this position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Overseeing and managing all phases of intellectual property, employment, and commercial litigation, including early dispute resolution, discovery, motions, trial preparation, and post-trial matters.
Developing and implementing litigation strategies and tactics in close consultation with senior management.
Managing external counsel, including selecting and coordinating with outside attorneys, managing legal budgets, reviewing legal briefs, and ensuring adherence to legal deadlines and cost-control policies.
Providing legal advice and support to various departments within the company on litigation-related issues, including compliance, contractual obligations, and employment matters.
Conducting internal investigations, performing legal research, issuing and managing litigation holds and discovery management (production, support of depositions, drafting of discovery responses);
Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents, including settlement agreements, contracts, and other legal instruments related to litigation.
Handle other duties, as needed and assigned or delegated by Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel.
Other duties as assigned.

Management Responsibilities:
This position will not have management responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate and admission and membership in good standing to the bar of at least one US jurisdiction, preferably Massachusetts.
6-8+ years of experience in litigation in an AmLaw 100 law firm with a focus on intellectual property litigation.
Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and communication).
Self-motivated with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior leadership of litigation related matters with independent responsibility.
Expertise in competition law counseling and litigation.
Experience with US and EU data privacy laws and regulations.
Prior in-house experience, preferably at a global medical device company.
Understanding of medical device regulations and general corporate compliance issues.
Physical Attributes:
May sit for extended periods of time.
Utilize dexterity abilities to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities and attention to detail competence.
Spend significant time reading both on paper and on a computer.
Work Environment:
General office environment.
Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
