Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Business Area Lead:
Criminal Investigations to provide strategic and operational leadership within a nationally focused investigations environment. This role offers the opportunity to lead intelligence-driven criminal investigations, strengthen collaboration with key law enforcement partners, and play a pivotal role in combating complex tax-related offences, illicit financial activities, and money laundering schemes. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute integrated criminal investigation strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Lead and oversee complex criminal investigations, ensuring prosecution-ready outcomes.
  • Foster strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including law enforcement and prosecutorial authorities.
  • Drive operational excellence through the implementation of policies, procedures, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Manage national investigation programmes, performance reporting, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Lead, develop, and empower high-performing teams while promoting a culture of accountability and service excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and enhanced investigative effectiveness.
  • Requirements:

  • Relevant Honours Degree (NQF
    8) in Investigations, Law, Accounting, or a related field, coupled with 10–12 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree (NQF
    7) in Investigations, Law, Accounting, or a related field, coupled with 12–15 years’ relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Extensive experience leading complex investigations within a legal, accounting, regulatory, or investigations environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks, including the Tax Administration Act, Criminal Procedure Act, POCA, and FICA.
  • Demonstrated expertise in investigative reporting, evidence management, interviewing and interrogation techniques, stakeholder engagement, and strategic leadership.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
