Job Title: Legal Assistant (USCIS Experienced Paralegal) Location: Los Angeles, CA
Job Description: Our immigration law firm in Los Angeles is currently seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with a strong background in USCIS matters. Litigation experience is a plus. The ideal candidate should have at least 1 to 2 years of experience in immigration law, be fluent in Spanish, and possess expertise in completing USCIS forms and handling various immigration processes, including I-130, I-485, I-601, I-601A waivers, U-Visa, DACA, TPS, and Consular processing.
Applicants failing to meet minimum 1-2 year experience as an immigration legal assistant/paralegal WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Under the supervision of Attorney/Manager or Lead Paralegal)
Complete USCIS forms accurately and efficiently
Prepare immigration submission packets as assigned by the manager and/or supervising attorney for submission to the appropriate government agency.
Work closely with the manager to manage cases and to meet monthly filing goals.
Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and timely.
Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation.
Ensure all deadlines are met including, but not limited to, deadlines for Requests for Evidence, Notices of Intent to Deny, Motions to Reopen, and/or Appeals.
Possess adequate knowledge about aforementioned forms of immigration relief and be able to effectively communicate with clients about the status of their cases.
Assist Attorneys and support staff in managing client cases
Translate documents as needed
Translate for supervising attorneys as needed for preparations, meetings, and/or teleconferences
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
1-2 years of experience in immigration law
Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities effectively
Punctuality and a strong attendance record
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and determination
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Outstanding customer service skills

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Make photocopies * Send faxes and scan documents
Retrieve and/or return files
Other duties as assigned
