Our client, a leading real estate investment trust, is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join their legal team in New York. This role will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer and senior stakeholders across the firm, supporting a wide range of legal matters related to structured finance, asset management, financial services and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
Manage relationships with financial institutions and counterparties, overseeing ISDAs, MRAs, MSFTAs, KYC, and trading desk activities.
Advise on the purchase and sale of mortgage loans and securities.
Assist with structured finance transactions, including asset-backed securitizations.
Provide legal support for investor relations, securities laws, REIT matters, fund documentation, ESG, privacy, and employment laws.
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school; admission to at least one state Bar.
5+ years of experience at a top law firm or in-house, ideally with structured finance, mortgage REITs, or financial services exposure.
Experience with securitizations, mortgage-backed assets, and regulatory frameworks.
