JS Careers are pleased to be assisting a leading national firm on an exceptional, off-market Employment Associate opportunity based in Sydney.

This role will be joining a highly regarded Workplace Relations & Employment team, working closely with several respected employment law partners and an established team of specialists.

You will advise a diverse range of employer clients on complex workplace issues across both contentious and advisory matters and the role will offer exposure to sophisticated employment, industrial relations, discrimination, workplace investigations, and work health and safety matters.

About the role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Advising employers on employment law, workplace relations, and compliance issues.
  • Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, executive service agreements, workplace policies, and restraint provisions.
  • Managing employment-related disputes, including unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination, bullying, and harassment claims.
  • Assisting clients with workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, restructures, redundancies, and performance management processes.
  • Representing clients in matters before the Fair Work Commission and other courts and tribunals.
  • Supporting clients through complex workplace change projects and industrial relations issues.
  • Developing strong client relationships and contributing to business development initiatives.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Ideally 3–6 years' PQE gained within a reputable employment, workplace relations, or litigation practice in Australia.
  • Hold a current Australian practicing certificate.
  • Strong technical expertise across employment and industrial relations law.
  • Experience handling both advisory and contentious matters.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to delivering client solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters effectively.
  • A genuine desire to build a long-term career in workplace relations and employment law.
