Overview
Growing appellate practice is looking to add a part-time legal assistant to the team. Work will be primarily remote, though some in-person work will be required, particularly when the firm opens its permanent office in Orange County, which is expected in the next year.

The right candidate will help our attorneys with the preparation, editing, and filing of various judicial council forms and appellate briefs. Experience with appellate law is helpful but not necessary.

Responsibilities

Correspond with opposing counsel (e.g., extension requests)
Prepare judicial council forms for review
File and serve documents
Prepare requests for oral argument
Save and organize case file documents
Calendar deadlines and hearings
Assist with preparation of appellate appendices
Downloading documents from court docket
Preparing proofs of service
Sending filed documents to clients
Organizing documents for appendices and exhibits

Requirements

Experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a legal environment is preferred.
Strong proofreading skills with attention to detail for accuracy in documentation.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Familiarity with Clio is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 25 per week

Schedule:

4 hour shift
